Weekly Announcements

- There are services this week for The Circumcision of the Lord with Liturgy Monday morning at 7am and for St Seraphim of Sarov with the Vigil service Monday evening at 6pm and Liturgy Tuesday morning at 7am.

- And please make note that next Saturday is the Feast of Theophany. Vigil will be served Friday night the 18th at 6pm. Divine Liturgy with the Blessing of the Waters will take place Saturday morning the 19th at 9am. This is one of the major feast days of the Lord and I hope to see you all here.

- With Theophany comes the season of blessing homes.  An electronic signup sheet will be available later this week.  I encourage and urge everyone to sign up.  This is such an important part of the yearly cycle of services and blessings… having your home blessed begins your year by calling upon  God’s grace to cover and sanctify your home. Don’t miss out!

- It is also time to sign up to host Fellowship Hour for the first quarter of the year 2019.  Please remember we ask all parishioners to sign up once per quarter or four times a year. Hosting Fellowship Hour ensures that we can show hospitality to our guests as well providing a means by which we get to know each other as a church family over coffee and refreshments.  Please sign up here.

- The annual collection for the Holy Land as decreed by Vladika KYRILL will begin next Sunday and will continue through the month of January.  Please make your checks out to St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church and put "Holy Land" in the memo.

All ladies of the parish are welcome to the Ladies' Lenten Retreat on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the home of Thalia Welch, 3419 Churin Dr., Mountain View.  Fr. Martin will be leading us in a discussion of the book "Our Thoughts Determine Our Lives," by Elder Thaddeus of Vitovnica.  The book is available from Ancient Faith for $15.  Please order the book, read it, and share a portion of the book with us that especially touches your heart.  Elder Thaddeus was one of the most renowned spiritual guides of Serbia in the twentieth century, and his writings will bring joy to our Lenten journey.  We will enjoy a non-fast potluck lunch; please RSVP to Thalia, 650-279-5919, grkmuse@sbcglobal.net.  Come and join us this Lent for a refreshing respite with Fr. Martin and Elder Thaddeus.

-  Our choir needs new members.  If you have musical abilities and have considered joining the choir, this would be a great time to do it.  Joining the choir is a commitment and has certain requirements, so please talk with choir director Nadia Temple to see if this will work for you!!

-  Each Saturday at 4pm Father Martin holds a spiritual talk in the church hall. The Akathist Hymn to the Mother of God 'Pantanassa' (served to pray for all those suffering from cancer) is served each Wednesday at 7pm.

-   You are welcome to stay at fellowship hour as long as you like but please, if you are the last to leave on Sundays, please make sure that the side gate on Beemer Ave is locked.  Thank you.
