I pray that all of you are keeping well… physically, mentally, and spiritually. As these days of ‘sheltering’ continue on I know that it can be challenging. On the one hand, it is frustrating to not be able to see our loved ones, to not be able to go out and do the things we’re used to being able to do, etc. But on the other hand, there is a calming and a stillness that has descended upon us and this can be of great benefit to us! This aspect of our sheltering in place is especially conducive to the call of Christ during Holy Week, where he exhorts us to ‘stay awake and watch and pray’. God grant us the spiritual concentration to indeed be with Him during these next days.
While the church is not accessible to us due to the restrictions imposed, it is ironic that for many of us, this week may present the greatest opportunity for us to attend the daily services offered during Holy Week. The livestreaming of the services at church this week can be easily accessed at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjl4OM4A1u-sV0RQ-T8He3g.
The schedule of services is as follows:
Monday - Matins at 6pm.
Tuesday - Matins at 6pm.
Wednesday - Presanctified Liturgy at 8am and Matins at 6pm.
Thursday - Liturgy at 8am and Matins with 12 Passion Gospels at 6pm.
Friday - Royal Hours at 8am, Vespers with bringing out of Burial Shroud at 3pm, and Matins with Lamentations at 6pm.
Saturday - Liturgy at 8am and then at 11:30pm we begin the celebration of the feast of Pascha... Matins and Liturgy.
All services remain closed to the public but will be livestreamed here.
I pray that you all will be able to make the time to watch and pray with us.
Unfortunately, we will NOT be able to bless Paschal baskets this year. I ask that you refrain from coming to the church on the weekend of Pascha... we have already had the police called out once. We are observing all the rules of restriction, but we cannot have any gatherings of people at the church. In order for us to assure that we can continue to conduct and livestream our services, we must minimize activity at the church.
Fr Andrew and I will be available to hear confessions and to offer Holy Communion by appointment. Please reach out to us if you would like to coordinate that.
My God bless you and grant you a spiritually profitable and peaceful Holy Week as we await the Bright Feast of the Resurrection!!!
